Company Profile

A traditional British cheese producer representing 45 family farms across Somerset, specializing in artisanal cheddar and stilton production using centuries-old techniques. The cooperative produces 1,200 tonnes of cheese annually with protected designation of origin status in the UK.

Project Goal

To overcome Canada’s prohibitive 245% dairy tariff wall by securing access to CETA quota allocations and establishing compliant cold chain logistics for temperature-sensitive products. The co-op needed to navigate complex regulatory requirements while preserving product quality.

Our Consultation

Our multi-stakeholder approach secured 18% of Canada’s 2025 EU Cheese Tariff Rate Quota and implemented RFID cold chain monitoring meeting CFIA’s SFCR §4.2.3 requirements. We successfully lobbied for the “Artisanal Cheese Producer” designation under CETA, achieving $2.1M in first-year exports of cheddar and stilton to Ontario/BC while bypassing $650K in potential tariffs.
